Trauma

Trauma or being traumatized are terms often generalized to unpleasant experiences or even playfully trivialized in conversation. In reality, trauma is a deep emotional wound caused by a distressing event or series of events that overwhelm a person’s ability to cope. This can have a lasting impact on our mental and emotional well-being. We can carry these wounds from ongoing childhood or adult experiences, sudden and tragic, one-time occurrences, or even inherited from relatives.

No one is immune from traumatic experiences but we are uniquely impacted. How trauma shows up for one person may look different for another. We may feel foggy, spacey, irritable, guarded, distrustful. We may also feel anxious or worried that others will leave us or that we’re imposters in our own life. Trauma can impact relationships, physical wellbeing, sleep, learning, working, and balancing what’s important to us. It can look like conventional symptoms of depression or anxiety or be secretly hidden from those around us.

Together, we can work to find you lasting relief to take you from suffering to healing. You will feel equipped with the tools to take out of therapy space and thrive in the life you deserve.
